Peter Aloysius Müller (born September 25, 1955 in Saar Protectorate Illingen) is a German politician affiliated with the Christian Democratic Union (CDU). From 1999 he served as Prime Minister of the Saarland state until 2011 and as President of the Bundesrat in 2008/09. In December 2011, Müller was elected to the German Federal Constitutional Court.
After graduating from high school in Lehbach in 1974, Müller studied law and politics in Bonn and Saarbrücken. He passed his two required state law exams, his first in 1983 and his second in 1986. Then until 1994 he served as a judge at the Saarbrücken District Court and a research assistant at Saarland University.
